それは僕が古着を触っていた時代から変わりませんよね。
僕は其の頃も米国古着に傾倒しておりましたが、世は空前のヨーロッパデニムブームでして
フランスやイタリアのデニムブランドが日本で大流行しておりましたね。
パリのレアールなどでも色々なデニムメーカーがショップを出しておりましたね。
日本の平行業者さんもパリで現金買いで色々なデニムを根こそぎ買っておりました。
僕の先輩が平行業者を営んでおり、毎月パリで買付もしており、日本でそんなに売れるのかと感動したもんです。
僕も其の頃は、新品も扱う様になっており、パリのメンズトラッドチェーンの買い付けに参加させて頂きまして
自分の店分を発注させて頂いておりました。
ボストンを拠点にパリに飛びましてパリでも色々な古着を買い集めて新品も同時に発注しましてと日々買い付け
のみの生活でしたね。
其の当時はPittiよりパリで行われるSEHMと云う大きな展示会がありまして、色々なブースで発注も行いと古着と
新品の両方を買い付けしておりました。
其の当時からイタリアの加工技術は素晴らしくてまるで古着みたいな商材を展開するブランドも多かったですね。
本日紹介致しますブランドは、1987年創業と歴史自身はそこまで古くは無いのですが、
痛いところに手が届くとでも申しましょうか！

There’s something different about it!
When viewed through their filter, it looks more natural and blends well with our style.
That hasn’t changed since the days when I was working with vintage clothing.
Back then, I was also devoted to American vintage clothing, but there was an unprecedented European denim boom.
French and Italian denim brands were hugely popular in Japan.
Many denim manufacturers had shops in places like Les Halles in Paris.
Japanese parallel importers were also buying up all sorts of denim in Paris with cash.
My senior colleague ran a parallel import business and was buying in Paris every month; I was amazed at how much they were selling in Japan.
Around that time, I also started handling new clothing, and I participated in buying trips for a Parisian men’s traditional chain.
I would place orders for my own shop.
Based in Boston, I would fly to Paris, buy various vintage clothes there, and simultaneously order new items—my life consisted solely of buying.
At that time, there was a large trade show called SEHM held in Paris, rather than Pitti, where we placed orders at various booths and purchased both vintage and new clothing.
Even back then, Italian processing techniques were superb, and many brands offered products that looked just like vintage clothing.
The brand I’m introducing today was founded in 1987, so its history isn’t that long, but
It’s as if they really understand what people are looking for!
Every season, they create items with a great atmosphere.

こんな感じで色々なギミックが沢山詰まりましたイタリアのアメトラって感じのショーツになります。
どこか日本製やアメリカ製とは違うんですよね。
決して日本やアメリカの製品が悪いって事じゃなくて国毎にセンスの違いがある訳なんです。
一言で言えばセンスが良いが妥当な表現かもしれません。
Chesapeake’sの場合、社長から其の友人の中にもヴィンテージの本など出版されている方もスタッフに名を
連ねておりヴィンテージ物に関してはかなり詳しくて、それを現代風にアレンジするのも上手いブランドだと
思いますね。

These shorts have a lot of interesting details, giving them an Italian American traditional feel.
There’s something different about them compared to Japanese or American-made products.
It’s not that Japanese or American products are bad; it’s just that each country has its own unique sense of style.
In short, “good taste” might be the most appropriate description.
In the case of Chesapeake’s, the president and his friends include people who have published books on vintage items among the staff.
They are very knowledgeable about vintage items, and I think they are a brand that is skilled at adapting them to modern styles.
