因みに僕はPARABOOTが8サイズでニューバランスは10サイズを愛用しております！
僕にとってNew Balanceはファッションと言うよりLifestyleと言う言葉の方が
マッチするかと！
To me, New Balance is more of a lifestyle than a fashion statement!
576品番（フットロッカー別注）や2000番台など浮気した事もありますが、履き心地や見た目的にも
自分自身にしっくりくるのが900番台何ですね！
履き始めてから、40年以上愛用しているモデルで、30代の頃は、いつもボストンのLawrenceに有る
New Balanceの本社で購入しておりました！
（本社の1階がアウトレットなのです）
メインやキットリーにノースコンウェイなどのアウトレットを周り最終ローレンスに入りニューバランスを
購入してボストンに戻るのを毎月行っておりまして、自分自身が愛用するニューバランスはいつもローレンス
で購入しておりましたね。
実は、本社のアウトレットでは、（お一人様5足まで）の看板が出ておりまして、僕は店長に
（日本にランニングチームを持っており全員のシューズを買いたい！）と申し出て50足以上購入
しておりました。
毎月たまには月に2回訪れる事も有り店長も僕の事を覚えておりまして、仲良くなってきたので、
（倉庫を見せてもらえないか？）と尋ねたら
（何で？）と聞かれましたので、
（もっと古い商品はないのか？）
店長が、来いよ！と倉庫に入れてもらえることに。
入りますと、有るわ有るわ！其の当時996品番でしたが、995品番などがごっそり残っているでは
有りませんか！
思わず
（That’s all！）と。
もう僕のMINI VANは満タン！
そのまま、ローガンエアポートのYAMATO TRANSPORTへ！
自分でインボイスを記載しましてパッキングも勿論自分で行いまして出荷完了！と。
ここまでが僕の仕事！
残されました半日をボストン市内のニューベリーSTのブルックスブラザーズや其の当時東海岸でも
最高のセレクトをしておりましたルイスボストンなど見学がてらショッピングと洒落込んでおりました！
ブルックスでは別注のAldenやらルイスでは別注のエドワードグリーンなど毎月靴だけは購入しておりました。
ニューバランスも勿論ですが。
アッ！思い出しました。
其の当時バナナリパブリックも日本でかなり流行っておりまして、特にT-SHはいつも足りない状態で店舗を
いくつか周り購入しておりました。
僕はバナナリパブリックのソックスが大好きで行く度に購入しており実店舗でも
（此のソックスにニューバランスで異次元の世界に行ける！）と接客しておりましたね。
コットンのナチュラルカラーの厚手のソックスは足入れも最高でニューバランスと最高のバランスでした。
飛行機に乗る際も、バナナリパブリックのソックスにニューバランスそしてスウェットパンツと、
今でもソックスは変わりましたが同じ出張スタイルですね。
I’ve experimented with the 576 model (a Foot Locker exclusive) and the 2000 series, but the 900 series is the one that suits me best in terms of comfort and appearance!
It’s a model I’ve worn for over 40 years, and when I was in my 30s, I always bought them at the New Balance headquarters in Lawrence, Boston!
(The outlet is on the first floor of the headquarters.)
I would visit outlets like Main, Kitley, and North Conway, then stop at Lawrence to buy New Balance shoes before returning to Boston every month. I always bought my favorite New Balance shoes at Lawrence.
Actually, the headquarters outlet had a sign saying (Limit 5 pairs per person), so I told the store manager (I have a running team in Japan, and I wanted to buy shoes for everyone!) and purchased over 50 pairs.
I visited every month, sometimes twice a month, and the manager remembered me, so we became friends.
I asked, “Can I see the warehouse?”
He asked, “Why?”
“Don’t you have any older items?”
The manager said, “Come on in!” and let me into the warehouse.
When I went inside, there were loads of them! At the time, they were all 996 model numbers, but there were loads of 995 model numbers and so on still there!
I couldn’t help but exclaim, “That’s all!”
My MINI VAN was already full!
I headed straight to YAMATO TRANSPORT at Logan Airport!
I filled out the invoice myself, packed the items myself, and of course, shipped them out!
And that’s it! That’s my job!
I spent the remaining half day shopping at Brooks Brothers on Newbury Street in Boston and Louis Boston, which had the best selection on the East Coast at the time!
I would buy shoes every month, like custom-made Alden shoes from Brooks and custom-made Edward Green shoes from Louis.
Of course, I also bought New Balance shoes.
Oh! I remember now.
Banana Republic was also very popular in Japan at the time, and I was always short on T-shirts, so I would go around to several stores to buy them.
I loved Banana Republic socks and bought them every time I went to a store.
I would say to customers in the store, “These socks and New Balance shoes will transport you to another dimension!”
These thick cotton socks in natural colors felt great and were the perfect match for New Balance shoes.
Even when I was flying, I wore Banana Republic socks, New Balance shoes, and sweatpants.
My socks have changed, but my business trip style is still the same.

昔と変わりませんね。変わったのは歳とった事くらいですかね。

考えてみれば30代からパタゴニアとニューバランスは僕のライフスタイルだったのかもしれませんね。
APPLEにハマったのも此の当時でして、僕のアメカジと言えば、
APPLE NEWBALANCE PATAGONIAですね。
毎日必ず使用しておりますので、ファッションじゃ無くギアーと呼ぶ方が相応しいかと！

Come to think of it, Patagonia and New Balance have probably been a part of my lifestyle since my 30s.
It was around this time that I got hooked on APPLE, so when I think of American casual style,
APPLE NEW BALANCE PATAGONIA comes to mind.
I use it every day, so I think it’s more appropriate to call it gear rather than fashion!

V６になります。
今やアメリカで購入されても殆ど変わらないお値段になっておりまして高級スニーカーですよね。
ニューバランス自体、東海岸のスニーカーでボストンやニューヨークのエスタブリッシュメントな方が
履くイメージのスニーカーで履かれているのは白人が多いですね。
ローレンスで購入されている方も殆ど白人の方でしたね。
特に900番台は其の当時から高額なスニーカーでしたので。
常に改良を重ねてニューバランスのフラッグシップになっております。
New Balance has arrived in stock from the US!
This is the V6.
These days, they’re priced at almost the same as when purchased in the US, making them a luxury sneaker.
New Balance itself is an East Coast sneaker, and is typically worn by establishment figures in Boston and New York, so most of the people wearing them are white.
Most of the people buying them at Lawrence were also white.
The 900 series in particular was an expensive sneaker even back then.
It has been constantly improved to become New Balance’s flagship product.
今回はFuelcell素材をミッドソールに用いまして反発性と軽量化を図っております。
実際に走ってみまして確かに反発性は向上しておりました。
勿論、軽くなっておりますね。
V5と毎日交換して走ってみるとその差は歴然でした。
走って良いと言う事は、歩いて良いのも当然ですよね。
ウォーキングなど為さる方も是非体感されてみては如何でしょう！

東海岸の白人のシックなランニングスタイルに常々憧れておりました。
本当は夏などニューバランスにランニングパンツのみで走りたいのですが（白人みたいに）日本では
中々許されないので。
This time, we’ve used Fuelcell material in the midsole to improve rebound and reduce weight.
I actually tried running in them and could definitely see the improved rebound.
Of course, they’re lighter too.
When I swapped them for V5 every day and ran, the difference was clear.
If they’re good for running, it goes without saying that they’re good for walking too.
If you walk, why not give them a try!
I’m sure many of you who read this blog are the type who start with gear when taking up sports!
Appearance is important, too.
I’ve always admired the chic running style of white people on the East Coast.
I really want to run in just New Balances and running pants in the summer (like white people), but in Japan
that’s not really allowed.

今回の見た目の大きな変化はソール以外にアッパーにあります！
今までの甲を跨ぐ皮革がこんな感じで無くなっているのです。
The biggest change in appearance this time, other than the sole, is in the upper!
The leather that previously spanned the instep is gone, as you can see here.
下が僕の愛用しているV5で上がV6になります。
甲を繋ぐスウェード素材が無くなっているのが分かって頂けると思います。
メッシュとスウェード素材が一体化された新しいデザインになっており個々に好き好きは有ると思いますが、
王道の逸品って時が経てば、革新なデザインも良く見えてくるのです。
メルセデスの丸目が出た当時など思い出して下さい！
特にニューバランスの場合は新品時は少々ダサいスニーカーなのですが履き込みますとかなりカッコ良く
見えてくるにいつも感動させられますね。
実は履き潰したニューバランスを全て倉庫に保管しておりまして、僕の葬式の時に花道として並べて欲しい！と
遺言しております。
最後の洋服は未だ決めかねておりますが。

I’m always amazed by how they start to look.
I actually have all my worn-out New Balances stored in a warehouse, and I’ve left a request in my will that they be lined up as a flower path at my funeral!
I haven’t decided on my final outfit yet, though.

To me, if I were to wear New Balance, this model number and the color gray would be the only option! I think most white people on the East Coast probably think the same.

RESOLUTEも711の方が裾幅が広くなるのでニューバランスの収まりが良いかと！

The RESOLUTE 711 has a wider hem, so I think it would fit better with New Balance!
