ビーチ文化を築いておりますね。
ラグーナビーチなどはサーファーとアーティストの文化を築きハモサビーチはヒッピーの文化で栄えまして
有名どころのベニスビーチなどはご存知の方も多いかと！
それが同じ国でも東海岸となりますと、全く違うスタイルを築いておりますね。
僕がボストンに家をレントしていた頃、友人のポールの古着の倉庫がニューベッドフォードにございまして
ピックされましたヴィンテージ物のチェック作業に出向いておりました。
ニューベッドフォードは古い街で昔鯨漁で栄えた街になり、住民もヒスパニック系の方が殆ど。
でも隣町のハイアニスはケネディー家もございます白人文化の街、早朝5時くらいにビーチを裸にランニングパンツと
ニューバランスで走っている方なども多かったですね。
僕も其の光景に惹かれて走るようになったので。
勿論、レストランも白人オンリー、日本人経営の寿司屋さんも白人オンリーで治安もすこぶる良くて
（又、稲穂と言う寿司屋がクールなんです、間接照明で大きなガラス面には稲穂のディスプレィ入って直ぐには
ウェイティングバーでディナー待ちのカップルがマティーニなどショートカクテルを
友人のポールなどは大きな湖のほとりに自宅を所有しており、休日はクルーザーで釣り三昧！
ですから白人で形成されましたビーチ文化なんですね。
ラルフローレンの似合う街とでも言いましょうか！
本日ご紹介のOLD SOLDIERは場所はニューヨークになりますが、感覚的には同じ文化だと思います。
ボートなども祖父から父そして孫に受け継がれていく感じで修理を重ねて長く使い込んでいく感じが
根付いておりますね。
OLD SOLDIERも正にそんなスピリットを持ったブランドでロングアイランドの小さな港街パチョーグの
ボートハウスを拠点としまして企画されております。
今日は、其の中でも素敵なキャップのご紹介です。
The US West Coast, with its dry air, pairs perfectly with rock music; as a true melting pot of races, people from all walks of life have cultivated their own unique beach cultures there.
Places like Laguna Beach fostered a culture blending surfing and art, while Hermosa Beach thrived on hippie culture—and many of you are likely familiar with the famous Venice Beach!
Yet, even within the same country, the East Coast has developed a completely different style.
Back when I was renting a house in Boston, my friend Paul had a vintage clothing warehouse in New Bedford, so I used to head there to inspect the vintage pieces he’d sourced.
New Bedford is an old town that once prospered from the whaling industry, and the population is predominantly Hispanic.
In contrast, the neighboring town of Hyannis is a hub of white culture—home to the Kennedy family, among others. You’d often see people out running on the beach as early as 5:00 AM, clad in nothing but running shorts and New Balance sneakers.
I was actually inspired by that sight to start running myself.
Naturally, the restaurants catered almost exclusively to white clientele—even the Japanese-owned sushi spots—and the area was incredibly safe.
(There was a particularly cool sushi place called “Inaho”; it featured indirect lighting and a display of rice stalks behind a large glass window, with a waiting bar right at the entrance where couples would sip martinis or other short cocktails while waiting for their dinner.)
My friend Paul owned a home by a large lake and spent his holidays fishing to his heart’s content on his cruiser.
It was a beach culture shaped largely by white residents.
You might even call it a town where Ralph Lauren style feels right at home!
The brand I’m introducing today, OLD SOLDIER, is based in New York, but I feel it shares that same cultural sensibility.
There is a deeply rooted tradition there of passing things down—like boats—from grandfather to father to grandson, repairing and using them for the long haul.
OLD SOLDIER embodies that very spirit; the brand is based out of a boathouse in Patchogue, a small harbor town on Long Island.

“Runabouts” refers to the small boats the brothers use as their means of transport.

It is also equipped with an adjuster that allows you to fit it to the size of your head.
