When the apprentice unearthed it from the fabric warehouse,
he exclaimed, “Yes!”—looking quite proud of himself!
BDシャツに仕立て上げますと、これしかないって出来栄えです。
胸ポケットも削除させて頂きまして6ボタンで仕立てております。
ナポリの御仁達はシャツ好きでシャツの胸ポケットがジャケットに響くと言われているそうです。
実際にはそんな事はないと思いますが。
それだけ野暮って事なのでしょうね。
When tailored as a button-down shirt, the result is simply perfect—it couldn’t be any better.
I’ve omitted the chest pocket and opted for a six-button front.
It’s said that the gentlemen of Naples—who are great shirt enthusiasts—believe that a chest pocket on a shirt can disrupt the line of a jacket.
In reality, that may not actually be the case.
But I suppose it’s just considered a bit unrefined.

Since it is made of cotton flannel, the collar rolls beautifully and neatly.
やはりスーパーソフトの芯が効いているのでしょうね。

It seems the “super-soft” interlining really makes a difference.
The factory manager suggested:
“I recommend the ‘super-soft’ interlining—when it’s exposed to water, it creates an effect similar to a furashi (floating/unattached) interlining!”
As the saying goes, leave it to the experts!

第一ボタンは掛けにくいので掛けやすく配慮されております。
And here’s a special touch you’d only find from a workshop that creates made-to-order garments!
A skilled artisan has carefully wrapped the base of the top button—a technique known as “shank wrapping.”
This thoughtful detail makes the top button much easier to fasten.
カフスのボタンも同様に配慮が為されております。
Similar consideration has been given to the cuff buttons.
そして此の細い幅の折伏せ縫いも職人技ですよね！
其の下のガゼットも見せかけじゃございません！
必要不可欠の上で装着されております。
昨今、見せかけのガゼットが多いそうなのですが、此のシャツは前身頃と後身頃の裾を別々に裾巻きしており
最後に脇を縫い合わせますから、脇裾が断ち切りになるのを防ぐ為のガゼットなんです。
最近のシャツは裾巻きを一気に縫い上げるのでガゼットは必要無いそうです。
こんな感じに一手間も二手間も掛けられました逸品、悪い筈がございませんね。
And look at this narrow, folded-over seam—that’s true craftsmanship!
The gusset down there isn’t just for show, either!
It serves a genuine, necessary purpose.
While many shirts these days feature purely decorative gussets, this one is constructed differently: the hems of the front and back panels are finished separately before the side seams are joined. The gusset is there specifically to prevent the raw edges at the side hems from being left exposed.
Most modern shirts have their hems finished in a single, continuous pass, which renders a gusset unnecessary.
When a piece is crafted with this much extra care and attention to detail, you can be certain it’s an exceptional garment.
