それではいつも通りに始めさせて頂きます。
僕が初めてレトロXを見たのは今から35年程前に、僕の古着の師匠（何人か居てる一人）が、
リーバイスに羊みたいなアウターを羽織っており足元は確かカントリーでした。
僕もすかさず
（何を着てるんですか？）
（パタゴニアやんけ！）と。（エエやろ！）
（今度、一緒に行くか！）と。
そしてLAから101NORTHを一走りでGREAT PACIFIC IRON WORKS（パタゴニアの総本山）に。
VENTURAの街は70年代ヒッピーのムーブメントで栄えた町で、オーガニックカフェなども点在しており
サンフランシスコのヘイツSTとは又違った雰囲気を持つ町でした。
ヘイツSTの方が70年代文化を引きずっている感じで、VENTURAはそれなりに進化を遂げた雰囲気だと
僕は感じました。
店内は音楽も無く静かな雰囲気でも、本格的なアウトドアーショップでした。
僕にとってはどれも新鮮で色々と物色しましてトレントシェルからメッセンジャーバッグなど数点購入したのを
今でも覚えております。
其の後、東海岸に飛びましてメイン州のパタゴニアのアウトレットではレトロXから色々なフリースをごっそりと
購入しまして日本に帰宅！
メイン州には、その後も毎月通う様になりまして、経費の事も考慮するとボストンに家をレントする事になった
訳なんです。
まあ、其の当時はアメリカ漬けされました生活でしたね。
１ヶ月の三分の一はボストンに居てましたので、古着の倉庫で古着をピックしましてメイン州はアウトレット周り
と、忙しかったですが実りも多くてそれなりにやりがいも感じておりましたね。
その後、ヨーロッパへと足を伸ばす事となるのですが、其れは又次回に。
とにかく90年代初頭から引き継がれておりますレトロXが、今年リニューアルをされる事となりましてボーイズでも
展開する事に！
I first encountered the Retro-X jacket about 35 years ago. A mentor of mine in the vintage clothing world—one of several I’ve had—was wearing a sheep-like outer layer over a pair of Levi’s, paired with what I recall were a pair of “Country” shoes.
I immediately asked, “What are you wearing?”
He replied, “It’s Patagonia! Pretty cool, right?”
“Want to come along next time?” he added.
And so, we took a drive up the 101 North from LA to the Great Pacific Iron Works—Patagonia’s headquarters.
Ventura, a town that flourished during the hippie movement of the 1970s, was dotted with organic cafés and had a vibe quite distinct from that of Haight Street in San Francisco.
To me, Haight Street felt like it was still clinging to the culture of the 70s, whereas Ventura had evolved in its own way.
Inside the store, it was quiet—no music playing—but it was clearly a serious, authentic outdoor gear shop.
Everything was fresh and exciting to me; I remember browsing through the selection and picking up a few items, including a Torrentshell jacket and a messenger bag.
Later, I flew to the East Coast and, at a Patagonia outlet in Maine, loaded up on a whole haul of fleeces—including the Retro-X—before heading back to Japan.
I ended up visiting Maine every month after that, and, taking expenses into account, I decided to rent a place in Boston.
Back then, my life was completely immersed in all things American.
I’d spend a third of every month in Boston, picking through vintage clothing warehouses and making the rounds at the outlets in Maine. It was a busy schedule, but it was incredibly rewarding and truly fulfilling.
Eventually, my travels took me to Europe, but that’s a story for another time. The Retro-X, a style that has been around since the early 90s, is getting a refresh this year—and we’ll be carrying it for boys as well!

リサイクルしましたリプリーブリサイクルポリエステルのフリース素材になっております。
The front zipper is protected by a wind flap—featuring a striking contrast of red and blue—which enhances wind resistance.
As for the “sheep” (fleece) element, the material itself has been updated; while it retains the same 6mm pile, it is now crafted from Repreve® recycled polyester, made using plastic waste recovered from coastal areas.
アームホールなどの縁取りも魚網をリサイクルしましたナイロン素材に変更されております。
全ての素材がリサイクル素材に変更された、よりPatagoniaらしいベストになっております。
The edges such as the armholes have also been changed to nylon material made from recycled fishing nets.
All materials have been changed to recycled materials, making it a more Patagonia-like vest.
